Verso Prologue Tan Cover for Kindle, Kindle Touch, and Kindle Paperwhite By LightWedge It’s rare for a book to become a classic overnight. Just ask Henry David Thoreau. He only managed to publish two books during his lifetime, both of which were regarded as strange and weird. He even paid for the printing of one out of his own pocket, a 1,000-volume run of A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers. Fewer than 300 sold before his death. Not until the 1920s did Thoreau earn his due, and today, it’s difficult to find a high school graduate that wasn’t required pick up his ode to natural living, Walden. This item is very nice. I have had friends confuse it for a leather-bound journal. I'm happy with the quality of the feel of the cover and the security of my kindle within it. I did have to set it "backwards" or face down on surfaces when I wasn't using it for the first week or so, as the front cover did not lay entirely flat. It would remain slightly opened, which was made worse initially if I read with it turned completely behind the kindle. It has pretty much cleared up, though, after storing face down for a week. I think that the more I use it and the flexibility increases, this should become a non-issue.

I was slightly annoyed by the packaging, however. It comes with inserts that contain magnets. This is very convenient to keep the cover closed if it were on display in a store. On the other hand, it was very misleading when I got excited that my cover would have a magnet that kept itself closed. There is no way to leave the inserts in and still secu re the kindle at the same time; I tried. To be fair, the item description doesn't say anything to mislead one about a magnetic closure. I just couldn't help getting my hopes up when I initially opened my shipment and noticed the magnetic closure aspect.

All in all, I am extremely happy with the quality and functionality of the product and would still buy it again in a heartbeat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everything I expected, March 5, 2012
This review is from: Verso Prologue Cover for Kindle, Tan (fits Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle, and Kindle Touch) (Accessory)
I just got my first Kindle (Touch) and was looking for a cover that would protect it from being kept in my book bag or in a desk drawer. I read dozens of reviews on other leaver covers and was worried about getting the infamous smell that some covers have. In the end I chose this one because it is more than just a plain black cover. When it showed up it did have a slight smell, but it was more of a new car/leather smell than something disgusting and it disappeared within a week. When I put my Touch into the straps, it doesn't move around one bit. It is a very snug fit so I don't worry about it slipping out at all. The pouch to put my hand into is too tight for my big hand but there is plenty of material for me to hold it comfortably in one hand. The only downsides to this cover that I found is that if the cover is closed while your book is open the page changes so make sure to put it on the menu or ad screen before closing. Also, the cover doesn't close completely so it may open if jostled around in a backpack but I solved this by getting my own elastic strap to slip over it. I am very glad I purchased this product as opposed to a plain colored one. It makes me feel as if I'm reaching for an actual book instead of a Kindle.

I got this because I wanted something I could leave the Kindle in all the time---the naked Kindle terrified me and I didn't feel like I could even take it around the house for fear that my toddler might grab it or I might spill a cup of tea. This case is not waterproof, won't keep dust or toddler-snack-crumbs off it, and doesn't have anything to keep it closed, but it cleared up my irrational fear and looks beautiful.

Although there is no fastener, the case stays closed when just sitting out on a table---it doesn't pop open. The leather is lovely, as is the inside (suede?). My only qualm with the aesthetics is that the (presumably fake) gold leaf is not quite perfect. I'm okay with that---it makes it look more authentically like an old book.

Inside, the straps that actually hold the Kindle are really nice. They are tighter than the ones on my husband's Marware Jurni, and have some plasticky backing on the inside that keep them from slipping. They are perfectly placed to allow access to all the buttons.
