This review is from: Acer G276HL Dbd 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor (Personal Computers) Got the go ahead to purchase a new monitor for work, settled on this model by Acer. Couldn't be happier. The Acer replaces an old Samsung 24" monitor. The difference is alarming in terms of brightness and contrast. Though, comparing an LED LCD to standard LCD isn't "apples to apples", you will notice the difference, in a good way. I keep the settings at stock and they have been great for the last week. To be honest, despite the 3" gain in screen real estate over the Samsung, the monitor doesn't appear that much larger, probably due to how noticeably thin the monitor is; the Samsung is a bit hefty. You could pick up a cheaper monitor at Costco, but if it's not your dime, this would be an excellent choice for work. It's also been very helpful with creating solidmodels with solidworks. 20 of 24 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: Acer G276HL Dbd 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor (Personal Computers) 1920x1080 spread across a 27 inches diagonal display is about 82 pixels per square inch. This is pretty dismal compared to the 400+ pixels per inch that the human eye can resolve at 12 inches. For a 27" computer screen, I recommend you shop for a monitor with at least a resolution of 2560x1440, many of which are widely available. That will get you 109 pixels per inch, which will look a whole lot better than 82 will. Plenty of 27 inch screens with that resolution are available from Dell, Apple, and Viewsonic. You just have to look a little bit harder.1080P is a fine resolution for a television that it 10 or 20 feet from you, across the room. For a computer sitting 18 to 20 inches in front of your face, it doesn't cut it on anything but the smallest displays such as a 15.6" laptop. If your vision is lacking and you just want a large monitor like this to make everything bigger, than 1920x1080 may be adequate for you. If you are a photographer, engineer, ed itor, or anyone that is trying to fit more content onto the screen, than resolution should be just as critical to you as screen size. For me, I am constantly trying to fit more content onto my screens. For the work I do, I like to have multiple full sized windows open across my two 27 inch screens. 1920x1080 does not allow that, but 2560x1440 does. Not everyone needs 4 full-sized sheets of paper displayed across two monitors, but my logic does apply to all those people who are shopping for a 27" screen to alleviate the need for a second screen. Other than this complaint about resolution, I have no issues with this monitor. The blacks look good, it is well made, easy to set-up, and the contrast is above average. My only issue is the resolution, but I think that is a concern that should give you some serious pause. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) They have a small bezel which work well with multiple monitors. |
