This review is from: Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals (CES432070002/02/1) (Personal Computers) First, many user product reviews here at Amazon clearly appear to be for similar but different models of the same brand. In many cases they are for older outdated models. Why they get lumped together makes research on a specific model a frustrating experience. Let me clearly at the outset indicate that this review is for the Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals shown at the following link:Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals (CES432070002/02/1) These Pro Flight Cessna Pedals are great! They are authentic in shape, size, and use, with the exception that the two pedals are a bit further apart than those in a true Cessna light aircraft. Do a web search for replacement Cessna rudder pedals or Cessna rudder pedal extensions and you will find photos of real Cessna pedals posted at aviation supply web site s. You will then see first-hand the very close resemblance. These pedals have a realistic feel and movement and they calibrate easily and work very well for flight simulators like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (also known as FS9) and MS Flight Simulator X (FSX). The only difficulty I encountered is that immediately after the initial installation (mine was into Windows 7 Pro 64 bit) FSX for some reason had the R and L brake axis assigned to ailerons and flaps instead of to brakes. Once I determined that, it was easy to go into the FSX Settings Menu for flight controls, select the Saitek pedals, clear the current assignments for the two brake axis, and properly reassign them to R and L brakes. I also selected/checked the "reverse" boxes for both brake axis in that same settings screen. That cleared up an issue with the brakes always staying on, which appears to be a known issue with all makes/models of rudder pedals with Windows Vista/Windows 7, and FSX. The Sa itek package includes an easy to use installation CD and a Manual. I adhered to the Saitek recommendation on sensitivity and null space settings. Following those adjustments the operation of the pedals has been flawless. The effort needed, or tension of the forward movement of the pedals is adjustable via the big round knob on the base between the two pedals. The tension of the pivoting toe-brake action of each pedal is not adjustable. For the axis adjustment I found that the knob will turn one complete (360 degree) rotation from stop to stop. The pedals are stiffer than the older CH Products Pro Pedals I am replacing, but are more realistic to true life in that regard. I set the tension near the mid-point of the available adjustment. I will add that my old CH pedals had a tendency to slide around on the plastic chair mat under my desk. Not so with the new Saitek Pro Flight Cessna pedals. The Saitek stays firmly planted despite the fact that the pedals are stif fer. That probably has to do with larger diameter feet likely made of rubber rather than plastic. These Saitek pedals also come packaged with a pair of footrests that can optionally be snapped into place in the front of the base. I am very pleased with these pedals. I am particularly happy with the improvement they provide in rudder operation during taxi, ground turns with the differential brakes, and braking in general. These are a much welcome improvement. I am a very experienced flight simmer with over 8,000 hours logged dating back to the first Microsoft Flight Simulator program for the original IBM-PC. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals (CES432070002/02/1) (Personal Computers) Don't get me wrong, this pedal set may be great for you. My problem is I have size 13 shoes and I found these pedals to be too bulky with too many plastic ridges around the foot area, forcing you to make sure your feet are in the right spots!I also found the angle of the pedals to be difficult to press. I returned these for the combat type pedals as they are a "cleaner" design and in my opinion more like what you see in a real aircraft. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The rudder pedal and brakes assemble much more accurately represents the 172. |
